Agnivo Chakraborty triumphs at 3rd Nitai Ghosh Memorial Rating Open 2025

Agnivo Chakraborty and Rupam Mukherjee scored an unbeaten 8/9 each at 3rd Nitai Ghosh Memorial Rating Open 2025. Agnivo won the tournament on tie-breaks, Rupam secured second place. Five players - Srijon Saha, Ankit Das, Hrishikesh Kumar Banik, Rishan Debnath and Mrityunjay Kumar scored 7.5/9 each. They were placed third to seventh respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund was ₹600000. The top three prizes were ₹80000, ₹60000 and ₹40000 along with a trophy each. The five-day nine round  Rating Open tournament was organized by Jalpaiguri Chess Academy at Greater Kailash The Palace in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal from 10th to 14th October 2025. Five players - Alekhya Mukhopadhyay, Srijon Saha, Agnivo Chakraborty, Hrishikesh Kumar Banik and Rupam Mukherjee were the leaders at 7/8 each before the last round. Agnivo defeated Alekhya to become the champion. Ruapm won against Rahul Gurung to finish second. Srijon drew against Hrishikesh to claim third place.

A total of 408 players including an IM and a WGM took part from various parts of the country and two from Nepal. The five-day nine round Rating Open tournament was organized by Jalpaiguri Chess Academy at Greater Kailash The Palace in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal from 10th to 14th October 2025. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
